The tarpon fishing has been good with strings of fish being seen and cast to. Many of these daytime fish seem to have "lockjaw". Anglers are hooking up on a few fish. This wind is making it a bit tough to find tarpon that don't need to roll and are staying down deeper. Permit and bonefish are being seen in better numbers. Pray for slick calm!!
The March Merkin Permit Tournament ended on the 14th with Jon Ain Guided by Doug Kilpatrick winning with three big permit. Angler Warren Hinrichs and Guide Kris Suplee 2nd with three smaller fish and Guide Mark Phillips and angler Michael O'Brien pulled off third place with their second permit caught on the last day with 15 minutes left.
