Light Tackle Offshore

Our Light Tackle Offshore trips are bluewater trips that fish the reefs and wrecks around the lower keys for tuna, grouper, snapper, jacks, etc. or go offshore to chase the sailfish, dolphin, kingfish, wahoo and marlin. During the spring and early summer they also fish for tarpon in the harbor. The boat is a 25'-30' deep V, center consol, open fisherman that can carry up to four anglers. These boats do not have heads on board, nor do they offer much shade, but one major advantage is that they use live bait. nothing is better than live bait. Another advantage is that all four anglers can fish simultaneously. On the Light Tackle trip each angler has their own rod, so you are much more involved in the fishing than you would be on an Offshore Trolling trip. The captain stays busy chumming with bait you netted that morning. While conventional and spinning tackle is the typical gear used on these trips, many have found fly fishing for some of these species a real hoot and worth the trip.
